Privacy Policy
Last updated 29 September 2026
GeezWord builds language-learning tools for Ge'ez, Amharic and Tigrinya. This policy covers the website at geezword.com and the GeezWord Games app (web, Android and iOS).
The short version. The GeezWord Games apps for Android and iOS collect nothing at all. No account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, and no personal information of any kind. Learning progress stays on your own device.
GeezWord asks for personal information in two places, both on the website and both meant for adults: community registration at geezword.com/start (your first name, email address, email language and interests) and the Daily Challenge, where an email address is optional. Neither form exists in the apps.
The GeezWord Games apps (Android and iOS)
They collect nothing
You can install the app, play all fifteen games, and use it for as long as you like without sending us anything at all. There is no sign-in, no account, no profile, no analytics, and no advertising. The Daily Challenge and its email form are part of the website and are not reachable inside the apps.
This is why the apps declare “no data collected” on the Google Play Data safety form and in Apple’s App Privacy answers.
The Daily Challenge on the website
It is for adults
The Daily Challenge at games.geezword.com/challenge is a difficult memory game aimed at adult learners. The form says so on the page. Please do not enter a child’s email address; if one is submitted, write to us and we will delete it.
If you submit your email after a Daily Challenge
At the end of a Daily Challenge you may enter an email address to save your score. If you do, the following is stored:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your email address | So we can contact you about GeezWord |
| That day's score, moves, time and whether the run finished | So the saved score means something |
| The challenge date, and the time you submitted | To attach the score to the right day |
| A random session identifier | To avoid recording the same submission twice |
This is stored in a private Google Sheet that only GeezWord can read. It is not sold, not shared, and not passed to advertisers.
Anonymous counts of how the challenge is used
The Daily Challenge records that a page was opened, a game started, a game finished, and a form shown or submitted. Each is stored with a random identifier that is newly generated in every browser tab and is deliberately not derived from you or your device. Two visits from the same person produce two unrelated identifiers, so these counts cannot be used to build a picture of an individual.
Community registration on the website
What is stored
If you register at geezword.com/start, the following is stored:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your first name and email address | So we can write to you, and address you by name |
| The language you chose for GeezWord emails (Tigrinya, Amharic or English) | So our emails reach you in that language |
| The topics you are interested in | So we send you news about those topics and not others |
| Where you registered (for example, the Start page) and when | To know which parts of the site bring people in, and to record the date you joined |
If the link you followed carried campaign tags, the tags themselves (for example, whatsapp or fidel-sort-pilot) | To know which posts and messages bring people to register |
| Whether you are subscribed or have unsubscribed, and how many times you have registered | So an unsubscribe is always respected, even if you register again later |
When you arrive at the Play or Start page through a link with campaign tags, or click one of their paths, your browser remembers, for that tab only, the tags and the topics those paths suggest, so a registration later in the same tab can include them. Browsers normally discard this when the tab is closed, although some keep it if you reopen a closed tab or restore a previous browsing session. It reaches us only if you register. The Play page also adds the tags to its links, including the link to games.geezword.com. The games do not store them; the website version passes them, with a suggestion of the Games topic, only on its Parents & Teachers link back to the Start page.
Registration is for adults. Please do not register a child’s name or email address; if one is submitted, write to us and we will delete it.
Who handles it
- Google Firebase stores the registration in a database that only GeezWord can read.
- Resend, our email provider, receives your email address, first name, email language and topics so it can deliver GeezWord emails and process unsubscribes.
- GeezWord receives a notification email with the details of each new registration.
Your information is not sold, not shared with anyone else, and not passed to advertisers.
Unsubscribing
Every GeezWord email sent to you includes an unsubscribe link. When you unsubscribe we stop emailing you, and your record is kept, marked as unsubscribed, so that registering again does not quietly sign you back up. To have the record removed entirely, write to us.
What stays on your device and is never uploaded
Everything GeezWord knows about your learning is kept in your browser or app storage on the device itself:
- Which letters you have practised and how you did
- Your daily streak and session history
- Your alphabet choice (Tigrinya or Amharic)
None of this is sent to GeezWord or to anyone else. Clearing your browser data, or uninstalling the app, deletes it permanently — we hold no copy and cannot restore it.
No advertising or tracking in the apps
The GeezWord Games apps contain no advertising, no analytics service, and no third-party tracking code of any kind.
The geezword.com website
Advertising
The website home page displays advertising through Google AdSense. Google may set cookies and use device information to select and measure advertisements. That processing is Google's, not GeezWord's, and is described in Google's advertising policy, where you can also manage your preferences. The apps themselves carry no advertising.
Fonts and hosting
Pages load typefaces from Google Fonts, which receives the request in order to serve the font file. The site and the apps are hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs.
Children
The GeezWord Games apps are made for children as well as adults, and they are safe for a child to use alone: they ask for nothing — no name, no age, no account, no location, no email. The Android and iOS apps send nothing anywhere. The website version sends nothing while the games are played; only the separate Daily Challenge at games.geezword.com/challenge, which is for adults, records the anonymous counts and the optional email described above. There is no advertising, and the Android and iOS apps give a child no way to reach an external link or a form.
The website version of the games, at games.geezword.com, has one link out: Parents & Teachers: Join Geezword Free, which opens community registration on geezword.com. It is only in the Parent area, which asks a “For grown-ups” multiplication question first, and it does not appear in the apps.
The Daily Challenge and community registration are on the website, are meant for adults, and are the only places an email address is ever requested.
If you believe a child has submitted an email address and you would like it removed, write to us at the address below and we will delete it.
Keeping and deleting information
- Emails and challenge scores are kept until you ask us to remove them, or until the Daily Challenge ends and the records are no longer needed.
- Community registrations are kept until you ask us to remove them. Unsubscribing stops emails but keeps the record, marked unsubscribed, as described above. A removal request deletes it from our database and from our email provider.
- Learning progress is never sent to us, so there is nothing on our side to delete. Clearing your device storage removes it.
To see what we hold about you, or to have it deleted, email info@geezword.com. We will act on the request and confirm when it is done.
Other GeezWord apps
GeezWord publishes other applications, including Sirate Kidase Tutor, Geez Lissan and Tigrinya for Beginners. Some of those offer accounts or subscriptions and therefore handle information differently from what is described here. This policy covers geezword.com and GeezWord Games only; each other app states its own terms.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes to what we collect will be described here rather than made quietly.
